training together for the Derby and Peakness.

It was about a month after Chasing the Dirt ran in the TBS Spring Classic, he started to get noticed as a real 3 yar old now. Unexpectedly, he ran against the 3 year old colt, The Heist, owned by Iron Dune Stables who was stolen some month before the big race. It was surprising, really, that the owned of IDS wanted Chasing the Dirt to train with The Heist for the Kentucky Derby. At first Laurence was skeptical about the idea of Chasing the Dirt training with the colt but after tons of "Please" and "It'll be good for the horse" the Canadian finally gave in. It was soon that they finally arrived in Louisville, Kentucky, where the twin spires of Churchill Downs could be seen as soon as you drove into the backside stables. Soon the two colts would meet for the first time and train together for the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness.


Earlier the next morning, Chasing the Dirt was led out to the track where the dappled bay colt, The Heist was waiting for them swiveling his ears towards the cherry bay. He agve a snort, reaching his muzzle out to meet The Heist's who gave a playful nicker in return. "So far, so good." Hayleigh sighed with relief watching Laurence walk off to meet the trainer of The Heist waiting and talking with Jose and Cole, The Heist's jockey. "Mark, it's nice to meet you again." The trainer looked over giving a friendly nod. "You too, Laurence. Your boy ready to go?" He patted the colt's neck with a small grin. "Ready then he'll ever be." Jose stroked Chasing the Dirt's neck before turning to Cole. "I bet if he races in the Derby with The Heist, he'll probably be following him the entire way beside him." The black-haired jockey nodded with a laugh, trotting out to the track. "Probably so." Mark turned back to Laurence and Hayleigh, tilting his head somewhat. "Does he have plans for the Derby?" The Canadian took off his fedora, scratching his head before firmly putting it back on. "I think we'll put him in the Preakness, dealing with 19 other horses just won't do with him. It's too much. The most he ran with was 14 and that was it." The trainer nodded understandingly, turning his gaze back to the colts. He could tell that The Heist was loving his run with Chasing the Dirt, maybe with the colt running with him, it could sharpen him up to be a Kentucky Derby winner.
